As chairs of the Rhetoric and Composition section, we would like to invite you to submit a proposal for the 2013 Michigan Academy of Science, Arts and Letters Conference. The conference will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 on the campus of Hope College in Holland, Michigan.  Over 30 different academic disciplines will be holding sessions this year.

We invite you to submit an abstract of a presentation for the conference, and we also invite your students to submit abstracts as well. While the conference is always held in Michigan on the campus of one of our affiliated institutions, it does draw scholars from several states and a few foreign countries, as well as scholars from across the state of Michigan. This conference provides opportunities to rekindle past (or to develop new) research relationships, to catch up on old times, and to stay abreast of scholarship in Michigan and the U.S.

Our specialized section in Rhetoric and Composition is only going to be successful and productive if you participate – please consider getting involved!

The abstract submission deadline is December 6, 2012. To submit an abstract, go to the Michigan Academy website: themichiganacademy.org and select the “Submit your Abstract” box on the left toolbar.

I encourage you to share this information with your colleagues and graduate and advanced undergraduate students.  In addition, individuals from research organizations, government agencies, non-profit groups, etc. are also eligible to present at the conference. The Academy’s website themichiganacademy.org has links to the general “Call for Papers” (which lists all sections planning programs) and links to each section leader’s contact information.

Please contact us at mulallyd@gvsu.edu or hulstc@gvsu.edu if you have any questions, and feel free to pass this communication on to anyone that you think might be interested in the conference.

Sincerely,
